Certified Physician Assistants (PA-Cs) are highly trained, certified and licensed medical professionals who have successfully completed an accredited Physician Assistant educational program, achieved national certification, and are fully licensed by the state in which they practice. The required educational program emulates the medical school curriculum which includes both classroom didactic instruction and intensive clinical rotation components.
PA-C training programs are accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. Applicants to PA school have completed a bachelor's degree prior to matriculation and are awarded a master's degree upon completion of their graduate programs. In the state of Alabama, Certified Physician Assistants are governed by the Alabama Board of Medical Education under stringent criteria.
