Kathryn, also known as “Kat,” is a board-certified Physician Assistant. Originally from Birmingham, she graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Human Environmental Sciences before completing her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2021.  

 Kathryn’s journey into dermatology began as a patient at Inverness Dermatology, where she developed an interest in the field and the PA profession. In 2016, she joined the Inverness team as a medial assistant while completing the prerequisite courses needed for PA school. In 2024, she returned to Inverness Dermatology as a Physician Assistant, a role that holds special significance for her as it allows her to serve the community that shaped her and to work alongside those who helped her achieve her professional career goals! 

 Kathryn has experience in general and cosmetic dermatology, lasers, and assisting in Mohs procedures. She is dedicated to building strong, trusting relationships with her patients and enjoys the journey of helping them achieve their healthiest skin possible. Her commitment to personalized, compassionate care is driven by her own experiences, including her own struggle with acne and her proactive stance on skin cancer prevention.

 Kathryn is married to Jeffrey Guilbeau, also a physician assistant. They met in the UAB PA program. He is from New Orleans, LA. They enjoy spending time with family, friends, and their dog, Beau.

Fun Facts About Kathryn:
     1. She collects Christmas ornaments and puzzles! She and her husband love spending their evenings putting puzzles together; it’s their favorite way to relax after a busy day!
     2. She attended the University of Alabama, but her whole family are Auburn fans! Her dad and two brothers love to give her a hard time about it. Kathryn doesn’t have a football team; she’s just there for the great company and delicious food!
     3. Her maiden name is of Polish origin- Buczek. Pierogis are her favorite polish dish.
