The seasons are changing, once again. The temperatures will cool, the air will dry, and your skin will react. In fall, many find their skin becomes dry and they notice damage that they incurred over the summer. So, it is a great time to alter your skincare routine to deal with summer damage and get ready for winter.
Fun in the sun does a lot to your skin. UV rays, chlorine in the water, salt in the ocean, and other things dry it out and leave residues. Develop a revitalization routine in the fall. Remove dead and damaged skin, cleanse, and moisturize.
Keep washes gentle and simple. Fragrant soaps and scrubs may smell great and feel good for a short period. However, many of them do not truly exfoliate or hydrate. In the fall, switch to gentle hydrating body washes.
Exfoliate for fresh skin. The sun and fun can leave your skin flaky and dry. A good, full-body exfoliation will remove much of the flaking skin and leave what is under it ready to soak up a good moisturizer. Oil-based scrubs work well for both exfoliation and hydration. It’s also helpful to develop a good at-home exfoliation system to use regularly.
Try a thicker moisturizer. Even if you used lotion regularly over the summer, your skin could use something creamier for the drier seasons. Creams offer a stronger barrier against the weather and moisture loss, while giving your skin plenty of hydration.
Protect all of your skin. Add hand cream and lip balm to your routine, too. If you have ever noticed that your hands and lips become dry and cracked when the weather changes, regular moisture will help.
